Craftspace at Birmingham Cathedral / Workshop

Sat 17 February 11:00 15:00

Join us for these free drop-in craft workshops run by contemporary makers Mahawa Keita and Jesse Hargreaves, inspired by the Cathedral’s recently restored stained glass windows. All welcome, no experience necessary!

Mahawa Keita is based in Birmingham and works with sustainable textile materials to produce sculptural artworks. You can work with Mahawa to use knit, crochet and macramé skills to create your own artwork in response to the vibrant imagery depicted in the windows. https://www.masading.com/

Jesse Hargreaves is based in Bristol and produces homeware and jewellery made from metal and enamel. Based on the lines and colours of the windows, and using vitreous enamel techniques, you can decorate small enamel tiles. Your tile will contribute to a large artwork, representing the generations of people who have taken care of the stained glass windows. https://jessicahargreaves.info/

Craftspace is a Birmingham based charity creating opportunities to see, make and be curious about contemporary craft. https://craftspace.co.uk/
