Songs of Farewell for the season of remembrance

Birmingham Cathedral Choir will be performing two exquisite classics of the English choral repertoire in a special concert taking place over the remembrance weekend.

Parry’s set of six Songs of Farewell was written during the First World War and comprises five poems and one psalm, set with increasing complexity for unaccompanied choir.

Purcell’s Music on the Death of Queen Mary was written for the funeral of Queen Mary II with texts from the Book of Common Prayer.

In this gentle and intimate work, the choir will be joined by brass from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Join us for an evening of reflective and beautiful choral music.
