A small step towards tackling period poverty

We are aware that there many people, especially during the current cost of living crisis, who might be struggling to afford sanitary products.

Thanks to some generous donations, we now have some small packs of sanitary towels, packaged discreetly in a brown paper bags, available from our welcome desk. These can be requested with no questions asked.

There will also be some leaflets in this area that can be handed to a member of staff, for those who might feel uncomfortable asking directly.

We are open daily for visitors, and a Verger or a member of the welcome team will be on hand at all times when the cathedral is open.

Georgina Gardner Stockley, Welcome Manager at Birmingham Cathedral, said: “People of all backgrounds, ages and faiths come through our doors everyday, and this is just one small way that we can help those who may be struggling to afford some of the everyday essentials.”
