During Lent, we are inviting our supporters to consider making a donation to one or both of our two chosen charities for 2024 – Street Banquet and For Refugees.
The work of both charities align with our commitment to developing our service to homeless people, strengthening our partnership working, and promoting community cohesion. Please hold both these organisations and those they work with in your prayers during this season.
Find out more about both these charities and how to make a donation below.
Street Banquet
Street Banquet is a key part of Birmingham’s city centre churches’ ministry with homeless people. The charity provides meals to over 100 people each month, enabling guests to become hosts, and helping homeless people to explore faith.
Street Banquet is rooted in Jesus’ Parable of the Great Feast as recorded in Luke 14:15-24. Here, a vision of a table where the most marginalised and disempowered people are invited and welcomed as honoured guests. The parable challenges social norms, breaks down barriers and turns conventional roles upside-down. Street Banquet is a place where hosts become guests and guests become hosts – a sign of the New World of God.

For Refugees
For Refugees works to restore dignity to those displaced by conflict across Europe. The charity helps people meet their daily needs for shelter, healthcare and protection, through small-scale grants to local partners. By empowering grassroots organisations, this ensures that support and donations reach the most vulnerable communities directly, helping to foster hope within refugee populations.
